Steam boiler water treatment is a critical process to ensure safe, efficient, and long-lasting boiler operation. It involves removing or neutralizing harmful impurities in feedwater, boiler water, and condensate return to prevent scale, corrosion, foaming, and carryover.
Core Components of EB Critical Steam Boiler Water Treatment:
1. Pretreatment (Feedwater Treatment)
Ensures that the water entering the boiler is as clean as possible.
a. Filtration
- Removes suspended solids and particulates.
b. Water Softening
- Removes calcium and magnesium (hardness).
- Prevents scale formation.
- Uses ion-exchange resins.
c. Reverse Osmosis (RO)
- Removes TDS, silica, and other dissolved impurities.
- Common in high-pressure boiler systems.
d. Deaeration
- Mechanical or thermal removal of dissolved oxygen.
- Often used with oxygen scavenger chemicals.
2. Internal Boiler Water Treatment
Involves chemical dosing directly into the boiler to control remaining impurities.
3. Condensate Line Treatment
Protects steam system return piping from corrosion caused by acidic condensate.
Regular testing ensures chemical treatment stays within safe and efficient levels.
